Delete your account

1. Delete it yourself, in the app or on the web

If you can still sign in, this is the fastest route, and it takes effect the moment you confirm.

1. Open the Markaba AI app, or sign in at app.markabaai.com — the screens are the same in both.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Under the Account & data heading, choose Delete my account.
4. A warning appears with a text box. Type DELETE into it. The word is typed in capital English letters whichever language you are using the app in.
5. Choose Delete permanently.

There is no waiting period, no cooling-off window, and no way to undo it. Signing in again afterwards with the same email address creates a brand-new, empty account — it does not bring the old one back.

If you cannot sign in — you have lost access to the account, or you have already removed the app — write to app.markaba.ai@gmail.com with Delete my account as the subject. (hello@markabaai.com reaches the same inbox.)

Tell us the email address the account is registered under, and please write from that address if you still can — that is how we confirm the request is really yours. If you have to write from a different address, we will ask you for something else that identifies the account before we erase anything, because a deletion carried out on the wrong person's word is not a privacy protection.

A deletion we carry out for you performs exactly the same operation as the button in the app. Nothing extra is kept because you asked by email, and nothing extra is removed.

3. Take a copy of your data first, if you want one

Deletion is permanent, so export anything you want to keep before you delete. The same Settings → Account & data screen offers Download my data, which builds a single file containing every record your account touches: your profile, your vehicles, bookings, orders, basket, diagnostic chats, reviews you have left, notifications, links you have shared, your MarkabaAI Coins balance and full ledger, and any workshop or supplier application you submitted. The file is prepared and downloaded there and then — nothing is emailed and nothing is queued for later.

4. What is erased completely

These records exist for you and for nobody else, so deleting your account destroys them outright:

• Your account record — your profile, your email address as we hold it, your role, your usage counters, and your MarkabaAI Coins balance.
• Your vehicles — every car in your garage, along with its details, its service history, and any photos or descriptions you added for diagnosis.
• Your basket — anything saved in a basket against any of your vehicles.
• Your diagnostic chats — the symptoms you described, the questions you asked, and the diagnoses, part matches and quotations returned to you.
• Your saved workshops and your likes and saves on workshop posts.
• Your in-app notifications — the booking and order alerts addressed to you.
• Links you have shared — every garage link or diagnostic-report link you created is destroyed, so anyone still holding one of those URLs loses access at that moment. This matters more than it sounds: a shared garage link reads your vehicle's live condition every time it is opened, so leaving one alive after an erasure would be the opposite of erasing.

5. What is kept, with you removed from it

Some records are not only about you. A booking is an appointment between you and an independent workshop; an order is a purchase involving a supplier and a payment. Deleting those outright would take away another business's own record of work it did and money that moved, and we have accounting and tax obligations attached to them.

So rather than delete them, we cut them loose from you. Your personal details are wiped out of the record and the link back to your account is severed, which leaves an unattributed transaction record: the workshop can still see that the job happened, and nothing in the record says it was you.

• Bookings — the appointment stays on the workshop's books. Your name is replaced with "Deleted user", and your phone number, your notes, and any registration plate or vehicle description stored on the booking are cleared. A plate identifies a car and therefore a person, so it goes with the rest.
• Orders, order items and payments — these hold no personal details of their own beyond the link to your account, so severing that link is the whole of it. We never store your full card details in the first place; payments are handled by a third-party payment provider.
• Reviews and ratings you left for a workshop — the rating, the comment and any photo attached to it stay visible, because they remain useful to that workshop and to other customers. The link naming you as the author is removed, so they are no longer attributed to you.
• Your MarkabaAI Coins ledger — the record of coin purchases, spends, refunds and adjustments is a financial one. Only the link to you is removed.
• Wholesale purchase orders and paid listing promotions — if you placed these on behalf of a workshop, they are commercial records between two businesses rather than personal data. The link to whoever pressed the button is removed and the records stay.
• A workshop or supplier application you submitted — the application is the record explaining why a live business listing exists, so it is kept but scrubbed: the business name becomes "Deleted applicant", and the trade licence number, contact phone number, WhatsApp number and description are cleared. The trade licence document you uploaded is deleted from our storage immediately.
• A workshop you managed — the business listing itself is not your personal data and is not deleted. It is simply unclaimed: your ownership of it is removed and it is left without an owner.

6. One record we keep on purpose

We write a single entry to our internal administrative log recording that the account was erased, and that entry deliberately survives the erasure. It notes the account's identifier, the email address and username the account held at that moment, and the date and time.

We keep it because it is the evidence that the erasure actually happened, and when — for you, if you ever need to ask, and for a regulator, if one ever asks us. An erasure log that erased itself would prove nothing. It is an internal record, visible to our administrators only, and it is never published or shared for any other purpose.

7. How long the kept records last

The anonymised records described in §5 are retained only for as long as we need them to satisfy accounting, tax and other legal obligations, and to resolve any dispute about an order or a booking. We do not keep them beyond that, and we do not set an arbitrary period of our own. They no longer carry your name, phone number or any other personal detail, and they are no longer linked to your account.

Server access logs for this website — which are generated by any visit, whether or not you have an account — are covered by §5 of the Privacy Policy.
